CheckDispute · Effective September 24, 2026
Refunds and cancellation.
CheckDispute charges for a service only when it is delivered. Most of the time there is nothing to refund: if a service is not delivered, the hold on your card is released and you pay nothing.
Previewing is free.
Previewing is always free, with no card needed.
Report unlock ($29).
- If you ask us to prepare letters automatically, we place a $29 hold on your card first. You are charged only when your letters are ready; if preparation fails or drafts no letter, the hold is released.
- If your letters are already prepared, the $29 is charged when you unlock them, and they unlock only after the payment succeeds.
- An unlock is permanent for that report, including later rounds. Because the letters are delivered when you unlock them, a completed unlock is not refunded automatically.
Plans.
- The monthly fee is held when the month's first plan service starts and charged only when that service is delivered. If the service is not delivered, the hold is released.
- Months in which you use no plan service are not charged.
- Cancel anytime in your workspace. Cancelling stops all future plan charges. It does not refund a month whose fee was already charged; that month's benefits last until it ends, and reports you unlocked stay unlocked.
Mailing.
- When you order mailing, we hold its price on your card and charge it only when the mail provider reports the packet mailed.
- If the mail provider cancels the letter or cannot print or mail it, or the Postal Service returns it to the sender, we refund the charge or release the hold. Your approved packet reopens, so you can mail it again or send it yourself.
- If the letter is mailed without the mail service you paid for, such as Certified mail, we refund that order.
- If you record that you sent a packet yourself before it goes to the mail provider, its mailing order is cancelled and the hold released or the payment refunded.
Electronic signature.
When you order electronic signature, we hold its price and charge it only when the signing is completed. If the signing is not completed, including when the request expires, the hold is released.
Notarization ($50).
- When you order notarization, we hold $50 on your card and charge it only after the notarized document is ready.
- If you cancel before the session starts, or the session is cancelled, expires or does not finish, the hold is released and nothing is charged.
- Premium includes one notarization a month; extra seals or signers are charged the same way.
Service contracts.
If you signed a service contract in your workspace, you can cancel it at no cost during the cancellation period it states, as its Notice of Cancellation describes.
