CHECKDISPUTE | FREE PRACTICE CHECKLIST Should You Dispute One Credit Item at a Time? 1. No numeric cap exists in the sources — plan by specificity, not count. 2. Each issue gets its own explanation: account, field, report value, document value, request. 3. Each issue gets its own enclosure — the document that makes that one claim true. 4. Remember the forwarding chain: your paragraphs reach the furnisher as written — fused issues arrive fused. 5. A repeat dispute must add required information not previously provided — a copy of the last letter is not new. 6. Statement entries and report entries are different processes: a card billing error goes to the creditor under Reg Z, within 60 days of the first statement showing it. 7. A collector dispute pauses collection; the report entry is disputed separately with the bureaus. 8. Never write "not mine" about an account that is yours — untrue statements are unlawful.
