CHECKDISPUTE | FREE PRACTICE CHECKLIST What a Document Hash Proves (and What It Does Not) 1. Save your own copy of every document at the moment you approve it. 2. Record the fingerprint you were shown, next to the file it describes. 3. Note the date and time of the approval. 4. If you rebuild or correct the document, save the new version separately from the old one. 5. Treat a signed copy as its own file; signing changes the bytes and the fingerprint. 6. Before relying on a fingerprint, confirm you still hold the file it was computed from. 7. Keep copies of anything you send, and send copies rather than originals.
