CHECKDISPUTE | FREE PRACTICE CHECKLIST Updated vs. Deleted: Comparing a Credit Dispute Result 1. Pull both documents: the pre-dispute report and the revised report from the results packet. 2. Ignore the letter's label; find the specific fields you disputed on each. 3. For each field, record: old value, new value, changed or unchanged. 4. Check unchanged disputed fields against the CFPB error categories — status, dates, balance, limit, ownership. 5. If anything was deleted, file the letter — it makes a later reappearance checkable. 6. If a deleted item reappears, look for the written reinsertion notice due within five business days. 7. Check the other two bureaus separately — corrections travel through the furnisher, not bureau to bureau. 8. File the comparison keyed to the item, with dates.
