CHECKDISPUTE | FREE PRACTICE CHECKLIST Credit Report vs Credit Score: What Each Tells You 1. Name document one: the credit reporting company, the report date, and the page where the entry appears. 2. Name document two: your own record for the same account, and the date printed on it. 3. Confirm both documents describe the same account, using the account label and the last four digits as printed. 4. Write down the exact field you are checking and copy its label from each document word for word. 5. Write the value from each document beside its label, with the date each value was reported. 6. Note how far apart the two dates are, and whether something could have changed in between. 7. Describe the difference in one plain sentence, separating what you observed from what you are unsure about. 8. Set any score you have seen aside: a score is calculated from report information and is not a field you can point to. 9. Store your copies where they stay private, and keep Social Security numbers and account numbers out of anything you share.
